Valto Kokko, a visionary artist born in 1933, unfolded his artistic journey by pushing the boundaries of glass art. His development as an artist was shaped during his time at the Free Arts School of Unto Pusa and the Institute of Industrial Arts in Finland, where he honed his skills in metal art from 1958 to 1961.

In 1963 he joined the ranks of Iittala, a turning point that would leave his mark on the world of glass art. The year 1973 marked the birth of his first notable creation, the elaborate glassware set called Avec, followed by the iconic Otso set in 1978. This masterpiece quickly became an essential part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York from 1981, making its influence recognized worldwide.
