Vintage Raadvad bread slicers
This Danish invention is ideal for cutting bread. The bread slicers have a razor-sharp stainless steel blade and a wooden board on which you can place the bread. Then you determine the desired thickness of the bread and let the guillotine do its work. In addition to bread, the Raadvad is also extremely suitable for cutting vegetables, meat and cheese, for example.
Although the Raadvad is still in daily use in Denmark, the Raadvad is often used as decoration in the Netherlands. The Raadvad is a cool eye-catcher for, for example, the catering industry, specialty shops and bakers. The design of the Raadvad is a Danish classic.
The bread slicer is made of cast iron and fitted with a sharp stainless steel blade. The handle is made of wood as well as the support on which you can rest the bread. All Raadvads are marked in the cast iron, some bread cutters are also marked in the wood.
The measurements are:
- Height: 24 cm
- Width: 35.5 cm
The Raadvaddam factory was founded in 1759 in the Danish town of Raadvaddam. The factory did not focus on luxury goods, according to a catalog of the factory from 1805, but on useful goods for professionals. This philosophy has never changed. Raadvad has started to specialize in the products of knives and bread slicers of very good quality. This also included a name change, the name of the factory changed into: Raadvad Knife factories. The factory has been around for more than 250 years and is internationally known for its high quality. Ove Larsen designed the Raadvad bread slicer in 1939. The design has since become a Danish design icon!
