Gorgeous iittala Aalto dish 195 mm Opal. The design is based on the world famous Aalto vase. Alvar Aalto designed the Aalto vase in 1936. The flowing, organic shape is still mouth blown at the factory in Iittala. The Aalto vase is an icon of modern design.
This size is perfect for serving snacks such as nuts and candies. Also ideal as decoration or as a gift. This size is no longer in production at Iittala.
Design
The world famous designer Alvar Aalto combined simple designs with great craftsmanship. He created iconic design pieces that are both functional and sculptural. This asymmetrical wavy shape that Aalto designed for Iittala caused a furore during the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris. The Aalto collection is unique and inspired by the thousands of Finnish lakes.
